Beginners Mixed Media Workshop

Our lovely group of ladies came together this morning at The Little White Studio, for a morning of Mixed Media fun, and oh what fun we all had.  After a nervous start from some of our attendees, they soon overcame their fears and let their creative juices flow, and then there was no stopping them!

Creating a Mixed Media piece on canvas using acrylic paints, inks, music sheet paper, tissue paper and lots of passion, we set about layering up our artwork , to create a richly textured background.

Instead of spending lots of money on expensive Arty tools we showed the ladies how to use everyday household items to create the wonderfully textured backgrounds you see here, it's surprising how after spending time at The Little White Studio you will go away and start looking at ordinary objects around your home and work out how you can use them in your Art creations.

This is a fun and messy way to paint, so aprons were most definitely required.. Some got more messy than others!!!!!  You can't be afraid to get your hands dirty with Mixed Media.

As the morning session progressed the ladies creative wings began to spread and they took control over how they placed things on their canvas and how they wanted it to look, they had only gentle encouragement, ideas and thoughtful guidance from Karen and I at this point.

And the end results were wonderful..... As you will see, although they were all given the same tuition each canvas turned out quite different as they took hold of their own creative process.......

Adult Mixed Media Classes

Always wanted to try your hand at something Arty but never had the opportunity to give it a go???  Then why not attend one of our Friday morning Adult Workshops and create a Mixed Media Canvas using acrylic paints, ephemera and found objects?  Here is an example of a Mixed Media Canvas Karen and I came up with earlier this month, the inspiration came from some tiny wooden shaped houses we found in a local Charity Shop, with a bit of tweaking we turned them into pretty little houses to put on our canvas design.

Jewellery Workshops - Make a Gift for Christmas!!

We will be running two Adult and one Children's Jewellery Making Workshops before Christmas....

The Children's Workshop will take place on Saturday 14th December from 10am till 11.30am, during the workshop they will make TWO beaded bracelets, with the beads of their choice, and once finished, each bracelet will be placed into a gift box so if they want to give them as gifts for Christmas they can, and if there is time they will also make one flower ring.

 

PRICE £14.00 (includes Refreshments of Juice & Biscuits)

 

 

The ADULT WORKSHOPS will take place on the evenings of 4th December and 5th December from 7pm to 8pm, it will be a fun, relaxing, festive evening where you will create a beautiful bracelet from Hematite and Shambala beads (see bracelet shown in final picture below), during the evening we will have Mulled Wine and Mince Pies available along with lots of festive hospitality from Karen and Amanda. Why not make it a Girlie Evening and bring a Group along??

Karen and Amanda would like to thank everyone who attended our Open Studio Event over the last two days, the turnout was fantastic with so many familiar faces and lots of new ones too.  You all supported our lovely Stall Holders and we hope you are happy with your purchases and feel we've helped you get started on the Christmas Shopping front!

Our Raffle and Refreshments helped raise money for the local Maynards Green Community Primary School, and we are thrilled to announce that with your help we have raised £127.78 for the School.  A huge thank you to Frankie and Kat for making the scrumptious Cup Cakes, and again along with Jo, for manning our Refreshments stand.

And of course it wouldn't have been the success it was without all our lovely Stall Holders, the quality of their goods were amazing and their beautiful displays helped to create a lovely Christmassy feel to the two days.

Thank you also to those of you that left your details for our Mailing List, we will ensure that you are contacted in the New Year with our programme of workshops for 2014.  Another thank you to those who booked their children's Arty Parties with us, we look forward to welcoming them and their friends on their special day!

We had lots of requests from visitors to make this event an annual one and we are pleased to announce that we plan to hold two a year, one in the Spring and another in November for Christmas, so please either bookmark our Blog or like our Facebook page to keep up with announcements.

Amanda & Karen invite you to view their Studio in Horam, come and see what's on offer for the remainder of 2013 into 2014, browse handmade Christmas gifts, art and décor from local Artists and Makers and try your hand at Watercolour!  Tea, Coffee, Cake & Mulled Wine will be available plus a Raffle of Gifts, Watercolour & Craft Sessions, with all proceeds from the Raffle going to the Friends of Maynards Green School.  We held this event last Christmas and it was well attended and

Maygreen Fairies 

Unusual handmade gifts from our Tutor Amanda Howard.  Amanda's work has been published in several Art Publications and will be appearing at this years Selvedge Fair in the Kings Road, Chelsea.  She will have a selection of items available for sale at the Open Studio and you will be able to talk with her about her art and also the Workshops she offers at The Little White Studio.

Amanda's creations include: Greetings Card, Tags, Bookmarks, Jewellery, Home Décor, Fairy Jars & Cages, to name but a few. She is well known for her Bespoke Bottled Mermaids & Fairies, where you can have an image of a loved one bottled as a whimsical creature!

 

Wellingham Herb Co.

A local Sussex family run business creating beautiful Soaps, Liquid Soaps, Bath Salts, Candles and also gorgeous Soap Dishes.  They blend natural, quality ingredients with a wide selection of aromatic herbs, essential oils and shea butter to create this sumptuous range of products.

The Owner, Becky has had her products appear in Country Homes & Interiors Magazine, as well as being filmed for a BBC Daytime programme due for release early next year.

 

 

 The Flower Workshop

We are delighted to have products from our local Florist & Gift Shop.  Joanna, owner of The Flower Workshop will also be making up two of her beautiful bouquets for the event, one for sale and the other to Raffle.  A selection of her Giftware and some plants will be available.

Formerly Sew Sumptuous, Cath is a local Fabric Artist, who creates pretty designs for your home. She is well known for her Micro Bunting (below) which always sells like hot cakes wherever she goes!  Cath will also have available Fabric Christmas Decorations, Cushions and a Fabric Bunting Advent Calendar that can be made to order.

We will have a small beauty area featuring products for sale to include Hair Products and Nail Polishes, perfect for the up-coming festive season.  Jo our Hair & Beauty expert will be at the event for short periods to assist you and may even do the odd manicure (limited availability, more details on this will be given out nearer the event).

Arty Parties at The Little White Studio

Why not hold your Childs Birthday Party at The Little White Studio!  Our Arty Parties are great fun, with taylor made art / crafts to suit the individual from colourful canvasses to decorative journals, watercolour fun or mixed media madness!!  There's something for all tastes and ages from 6/7yrs upwards.

Tutors, Karen and Amanda will supply their expertise, art supplies and Studio for the Party and then a large kitchen where you (the parent) can organise the party food and the children can sit around a large table to enjoy their Party Banquet afterwards.

We have held parties for teenagers also with a more grown up theme, and also Hen Parties for adults, most small Arty Parties can be catered for, for your special occasion, so please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Parties start at £10.50 per person, per hour, Amanda or Karen will be happy to talk through your party arrangements and if you wish to view the Studio prior to booking your are more than welcome to, please request this to set up a mutually convenient time.

SPOOKTACULAR - Kids Half Term Halloween Workshops

**SPOOKTACULAR** Children's Half Term Halloween Workshops - Wednesday 30th October 10.30am to 12.30pm or 1pm to 3pm. Kids will have great fun creating Halloween paper dolls and Pumpkin Carving.
