Arty "Hen" Party!!

A lovely time was had by all at our Arty "Hen" Party last Saturday. The ladies arrived late morning and the Bride had no idea what was in store for her!  On arrival they sipped a glass of Fizz and relaxed in the kitchen of the main house before moving into the Studio to begin their project.

As the Bride had a Vintage Theme wedding, we came up with a pretty Mixed Media Canvas that included working with vintage style papers, music sheet, teacup images and lots of old lace, buttons and metal embellishments, as well as a little bit of painting thrown in.

Half way through the workshop we stopped and returned to the main Kitchen for an Afternoon tea with individual finger sandwiches and pretty cakes.

Kids "Mother's Day Art" Workshop

Decorate a Wooden T-Cup with paint, paper, rhinestones and sparkle, then add a pretty tag with a personal message for Mum! A very pretty gift that any Mum would love to receive on Mothers Day.

Kids After School Art & Craft Club

 

With the half term break over our Kids After School Club kicks off again on Thursday afternoon!  After a busy term last term, with the children creating some fabulous Art to include a Recycled Art Journal, Art Tags and a very ambitious Mixed Media Canvas, this term sees us start off with a blank wooden butterfly to decorate.  We will be encouraging the Children to use their imagination to decorate this butterfly in an array of colour, texture and of course sparkle, deviating as much as we can from the "normal" look of a butterfly, to really try and get their creative juices going!!

Beginners Mixed Media Workshop

Our lovely group of ladies came together this morning at The Little White Studio, for a morning of Mixed Media fun, and oh what fun we all had.  After a nervous start from some of our attendees, they soon overcame their fears and let their creative juices flow, and then there was no stopping them!

Creating a Mixed Media piece on canvas using acrylic paints, inks, music sheet paper, tissue paper and lots of passion, we set about layering up our artwork , to create a richly textured background.

Instead of spending lots of money on expensive Arty tools we showed the ladies how to use everyday household items to create the wonderfully textured backgrounds you see here, it's surprising how after spending time at The Little White Studio you will go away and start looking at ordinary objects around your home and work out how you can use them in your Art creations.

This is a fun and messy way to paint, so aprons were most definitely required.. Some got more messy than others!!!!!  You can't be afraid to get your hands dirty with Mixed Media.

As the morning session progressed the ladies creative wings began to spread and they took control over how they placed things on their canvas and how they wanted it to look, they had only gentle encouragement, ideas and thoughtful guidance from Karen and I at this point.

And the end results were wonderful..... As you will see, although they were all given the same tuition each canvas turned out quite different as they took hold of their own creative process.......

Adult Mixed Media Classes

Always wanted to try your hand at something Arty but never had the opportunity to give it a go???  Then why not attend one of our Friday morning Adult Workshops and create a Mixed Media Canvas using acrylic paints, ephemera and found objects?  Here is an example of a Mixed Media Canvas Karen and I came up with earlier this month, the inspiration came from some tiny wooden shaped houses we found in a local Charity Shop, with a bit of tweaking we turned them into pretty little houses to put on our canvas design.

Jewellery Workshops - Make a Gift for Christmas!!

We will be running two Adult and one Children's Jewellery Making Workshops before Christmas....

The Children's Workshop will take place on Saturday 14th December from 10am till 11.30am, during the workshop they will make TWO beaded bracelets, with the beads of their choice, and once finished, each bracelet will be placed into a gift box so if they want to give them as gifts for Christmas they can, and if there is time they will also make one flower ring.

The ADULT WORKSHOPS will take place on the evenings of 4th December and 5th December from 7pm to 8pm, it will be a fun, relaxing, festive evening where you will create a beautiful bracelet from Hematite and Shambala beads (see bracelet shown in final picture below), during the evening we will have Mulled Wine and Mince Pies available along with lots of festive hospitality from Karen and Amanda. Why not make it a Girlie Evening and bring a Group along??

Karen and Amanda would like to thank everyone who attended our Open Studio Event over the last two days, the turnout was fantastic with so many familiar faces and lots of new ones too.  You all supported our lovely Stall Holders and we hope you are happy with your purchases and feel we've helped you get started on the Christmas Shopping front!

Our Raffle and Refreshments helped raise money for the local Maynards Green Community Primary School, and we are thrilled to announce that with your help we have raised £127.78 for the School.  A huge thank you to Frankie and Kat for making the scrumptious Cup Cakes, and again along with Jo, for manning our Refreshments stand.

And of course it wouldn't have been the success it was without all our lovely Stall Holders, the quality of their goods were amazing and their beautiful displays helped to create a lovely Christmassy feel to the two days.
